What is the Marketplace
The Land Tools Marketplace is an open and collaborative space to:
• increase visibility and promote “supply and demand” of land tools (good practices and innovative experiences from across the region, as well as local challenges that require land tools);
• activate interaction among various land stakeholders to promote learning and knowledge exchanges and to catalyze the implementation of innovative ideas and initiatives;
• mobilize resources to transfer knowledge, develop capacities and for the design, implementation and up scaling of innovative and promising land tools, that seek to contribute to changes in urban land practices, systems and policies.
Who can participate
We invite the people and organisations that seek to promote ideas and good practices or to implement land tools at local level; those searching for a collective space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, capacity development and for collaboration and strengthening alliances with multiple stakeholders. In addition, we invite those people and organizations who are willing to raise the awareness and influence policy-making and to document initiatives that increase access to land for shelter and tenure security of the most vulnerables, towards more sustainable and resilient urban development and with a strong focus on gender equality.
The Marketplace connects a broad network of land community stakeholders, all with equal opportunities to express their points of view, share their instruments, ideas and stories, as well as the same opportunities to access information and to collaborate. This includes representatives from the public and private sectors, grassroots and civil society organizations, NGOs, universities and research institutes, data, statistic and image centers; system and software providers; information and communication technology (ICT) providers, as well as foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies and independent experts.

Your information, after validation, will be published in our map and database visible to over 30,000 contacts already enrolled, besides the new users of our expanding network. We are also connected to global database and networks from across the globe.
A simple description of a successful experience or a current challenge you are facing is enough to start sharing with the network. The more you share, the greater are the chances to activate interaction and greater are the opportunities for collaboration with other users based on evidences and lessons learned from practice.
The idea is to make this content available and easily accessible to a variety of land stakeholders.
ALLIANCES
A team of subject matter experts from our network is activated, supported by information systems, to connect “supply” (good practices) and “demand” of land tools (requests of support). Emphasis is on the opportunities to replicate, adapt and scale up successful experiences building on lessons learned from good practices, to face the challenges of local contexts from across the region.
Alliances are promoted through dialogue and knowledge exchange among various stakeholders such as governments, civil society and community based organizations, system providers, financing agencies, among others, to leverage synergies for knowledge transfer.
RESOURCES
Building on the interaction between various stakeholders at different scales, it becomes possible to mobilize technical, institutional, technological, financial resources, among others, to activate public – private – social partnerships and collaborations, institutional technical assistance, promote capacity building initiatives, to design and implement land tools, initiate pilot and demonstration projects and to adapt and upscale successful cases.
